The Bulletin

The Bulletin is compiled and printed weekly for distribution to congregation members in all three Great Glen Churches.

It not only serves as a service sheet, it contains up to date information, notices, communication details and Church matters for the community in general.

We all consider ourselves very lucky to have the Bulletin and someone who is prepared to put in all the effort and hard work of gathering information etc and making it happen.

Please find below this week’s copy for your perusal.

Thought for the week

“Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.”

...

“For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” (Matthew 6:12 & 14)

It is not much that we are asking when praying the Lord's Prayer, considering how much trouble we have with forgiving others. Our mind helps us to do this when we forget unpleasant memories. There are times when we need to go to a different place in order to be able to reflect about what has been. And when returning after a while we might then be able to “forgive”.

But to forgive and make peace in mind with someone can be incredibly difficult and we ourselves might not be forgiven if it was entirely up to us to work on our forgiveness. Of course we can forgive little things: someone arriving late or even a bill that is wrong. But would we be able to forgive a doctor who has made a false diagnose or our neighbour who made the strangest comment about a friend's divorce?

If it was entirely up to us to be forgiven we could keep praying forever but nothing might change.

This is why we are reminded every Sunday to forgive in the Lord's prayer. We need the divine affirmation that God wants us to forgive because he has already forgiven us. God's forgiveness is far bigger than our own ability to forgive.

But in order to experience forgiveness God needs us to carry out the miracle of his forgiveness. When forgiving we are rewarded by God who forgives us as we have forgiven. And when we aren't able to it will make us sad since the debt is stuck with us who have to forgive as much as it clings onto the debtor.

It is our duty as well as our joy to do the impossible when we approach one another in the spirit of the peace that was started with Jesus' teaching and will be

fulfilled...
